As most people in the health and fitness industry have learned, fitness model and occasional actor Greg Plitt is dead. There’s no possible way anyone hasn’t heard about it because its been on the news, on social media, on chalkboards, on forums…etc. Greg Plitt didn’t die due to some freak accident. Greg died due to trying to create an adrenaline rush video which led to his brutal death. He was filming footage for some protein drink and he decided to try to out-run a moving train on the tracks while filming the train coming at him. Subsequently he tripped on those tracks and well….we know the rest of the story. I am not sure why Greg would do something so retarded but obviously he didn’t do any research whatsoever. If he wanted to film an incoming train, there are two methods of doing so. One, you can dig a hole into the ground and place a camera on the train tracks and get a top view of the train passing over. Or two, you can utilize a mirror and place it on the tracks and aim your camera there and just be out of a mirror. All of these things have to be done with the proper permits which is quite cheap to do and yet Greg Plitt with a net worth of well over 2 million dollars decided to simply climb over the barriers and ignore all the posted warnings. Please do not take my comments as being dismissive of Greg. He was an awesome personal trainer and role model and I’ve always enjoyed watching his training videos and advice. But at the same time, we have to keep it real and tell it like it is and the truth is that Greg Plitt’s death is a result of a complete failure to exercise proper judgement. His friends are also to blame because they simply went along with him without ever trying to talk him out of doing this ridiculous stunt. As I’ve said before, the fitness industry is mostly filled with followers rather than real friends because a real friend would have told him not to do this and would have made every effort to stop him. Too little and too late now.
That being said about friends, I’m also kind of pissed off at the number of people who are acting like they were Greg Plitt’s closest friend when in fact they only saw or spoke to the guy one or two times. The reason I’m sick of this is because these folks are only doing it to get Facebook likes or more followers to their page. This in my opinion is a complete exploitation of a horrible incident and I would associate this behavior with a bunch of vultures pecking at the mangled corpse of Greg Plitt for some lousy pocket change. I’ve even seen posting where they were going to train their legs or arms “in honor of Gregg Plitt. What kind of self righteous bullshit is that. How about leaving some flowers, send a condolence letter to the family, or donate to one of his organizations that he supported during his life??? But no, instead we’re going to just train our legs and arms because actually doing the proper and respectable things COST MONEY & TIME.
Assholes…..next time someone passes away, don’t make a public spectacle of yourself to satisfy your own arrogance.
